I think it's a reasonable assumption that Mr Kevin Delaney's exciting new bulletin marks a desperate attempt to generate a few more hits for his failing organ. After all, there is no earthly reason why one would want to visit the website more than is strictly necessary, but now we are encouraged to check back frequently to see what more drivel he has posted. No doubt at the end of this month he will claim that viewing statistics have soared.
In the meantime, possibly the only item of any interest at all in the latest issue is tucked away on the last page, where we see that Mr John Donnelly has been promoted far, far beyond his abilities: he is now Deputy Editor! As has previously been noted on these pages, Mr Donnelly's chief accomplishment until now has been the ability to ride his bicycle while talking on his mobile (is that illegal on Sark?). Recent weeks have shown, however, that he has an uncanny knack of judging popular opinion,* and so he has received his just rewards. Far be it from me to ask Kevin, yet again, why he has not subjected Mr Donnelly to the same background checks that he insists on for those who have the temerity to disagree with him. A couple of hundred company directorships, that unfortunate business with Rwanda, not to mention the boating accident... all this is water under the bridge so long as you're on Kevin's side. What a marvel of hypocrisy this man is!

There's no such thing as bad publicity
I think it's worth posting this link though I guess many of you will have seen it already. I dare say Mourant Ozannes might not miss the odd £4 million, but if it becomes a trend... Incidentally, for those pondering the identity of devils_advocate on the GP comment pages, a certain Ms Emily Dawes has been making quite a name for herself on another discussion thread over the past few days... hmm, that name rings a bell...

Thank heavens for...
... the razor sharp legal mind of Advocate Gordon Dawes, ready at the drop of a hat - or a quick word from the Groom of the Stool, Mr Kevin Delaney - to explain to us mere mortals the difference between 'a factual error, expression of opinion and a lie'. So, Gordon, please enlighten us. When you wrote the following on 19 September 2011 to Conseiller Dunks, re the Moinerie cotil and suggestions that a helipad was being created there, was this a factual error, an expression of opinion, or a lie?
'In any event there is no development being undertaken at the Cotil. My client is entitled to cut turf, re-compost and re-sew [sic] in whatever shape it [sic] chooses... These are neither building, engineering, mining, or "other operations"; nor is there any change of use resulting from the mere cutting of turf and resewing [sic].'
We are told, incidentally, that 'the island now has a specifically designed helipad at the Moinerie which is maintained and checked twice daily'. This may perhaps help you to form a judgement on what constitutes development. And what may constitute a lie. Perhaps you could ask Kevin?

Kevin Delaney is still a hypocritical bully
The march at the weekend has produced the usual entirely predictable
guff from Mr Kevin Delaney. I particularly enjoyed his comment, reported in the
Guernsey Press, that the Sark Newsletter campaigns ‘for real democracy,
transparency and accountability’. It would be laughable, were it not so
serious. Meanwhile we wait with considerable unease for what Friday will bring
– or will we get another Delaney special, fired off mid-week? Is his chum Mr
John Donnelly sucking on the end of his pencil at this very moment? Is Ms
Claire Wiseman giving them both a hand?
Come what may, there can be little doubt that more of those
who bravely stood up on Saturday will be singled out for Kevin’s special
attention – or what the civilized world calls harassment and intimidation.
Kevin’s bullying is increasingly evident to the world at large, however. As A Statistician writes, Google searches for Kevin Delaney Sark come up with these
pages at the top, as do searches for Kevin Delaney bully, Kevin Delaney
hypocrite… and no doubt we can come up with a few more. While I regret the view
that this might give of Sark to an unknowing internet surfer, this may be one
method by which even Monaco Dave and Swiss Freddie are forced to sit up and
take notice of the damage being done by their unhinged representative on earth
(Sark branch). Or, as other commentators have suggested, perhaps they really
just don’t care. In which case I almost feel sorry for Kevin, because it means his whole wretched existence these past four years has been a complete waste of time. No wonder he's so bitter and twisted.

Kevin Delaney is a hypocritical bully
Ebenezer would like to record his respect and admiration for all those who turned out on Saturday in support of the Sark Doctor, and for all those who have contributed their supportive comments to previous posts on these pages. Is it too much to hope that this really does mark the beginning of the end for the Sark Newsletter and its bullying hypocrite of an editor, Mr Kevin Delaney?
Being unable to attend the march in person, Ebenezer feels that his best means of contributing is to continue to highlight the hypocrisy of Mr Kevin Delaney and his vile 'newsletter'. In the latest issue we have, for example, the comment that Mr Delaney 'assumed, as would any patient visiting his or her doctor, that this consultation was a private matter between myself and my doctor.' Unless, of course, you are the wife of the Seigneur, and your ill health presents Mr Delaney with an opportunity to take advantage of serious illness to make a political point. Then it would seem to be fair game.
Mr Delaney also claims that 'although it is good to talk, it is never good to shout - and it is very often better to listen'. This, from the man who closed down Sark businesses the day after the voters of Sark rejected candidates favoured by Sark Estate Management. Did you listen on that day, too, Kevin? Have you actually listened to anything, at all, that doesn't suit your point of view?
Nobody 'listens' to the SNL these days. We all know it for what it is, a crude and ineffective propaganda sheet put together by an ignorant bully. Indeed, Ebenezer was bemused to see Kevin boasting of a 'massive increase' in online readership of his newsletter, predicting just over 3500 visitors in February. This humble blog, in contrast, has received 2700 visitors already this month, so I would predict something like 6000 by the month end. Of course these figures may go down a little, not least if Kevin stops obsessively checking this blog. But at least it shows that Mr Delaney, too, knows where he has to come to find the truth of public opinion. And that truth is that Sark has had enough of his malevolent intimidation and harrassment. It's time to go, Kevin Delaney.

Are you proud of yourself, Kevin Delaney?

Words cannot express my contempt for Kevin Delaney. In your own words, Kevin, go now, before you do any more damage.

Drug induced psychosis
So much Delaney, so little time... it's going to take me a while to digest the frankly indigestible double dose of Delaney we've had this week. However, I would like to commend Mr Kevin Delaney's openness in sharing with us details of his visit to the doctor on 9 January. Since Kevin is so keen on discussing the details of Mrs Beaumont's illness, I am quite sure that he won't mind a little idle speculation on his own ailments. Any suggestions? I can only assume that whatever he has been given has had some pretty terrible side-effects; his erratic and unpleasant behaviour, for some time now a cause for alarm, has only become more noticeable since - well, since early January. Can this be a coincidence? What has the Sark Doctor given him?

Instructed by Kevin Delaney
Oh, poor Gordon! 'I am instructed by Kevin Delaney', how humiliating! I cannot imagine ever agreeing to write those words myself, however much of the Barclays' money was being promised in return. Never mind though, let's have another look at exactly what Gordon had to say in yesterday's Guernsey Press. Click on the image for a closer view.
To my mind, by far the most interesting aspect of this is what Gordon does not say. In contrast to most of his letters, he does not actually threaten legal action. In fact he finishes rather tamely, with the statement that Kevin Delaney 'asks that you take steps immediately to give a more balanced account of events in Sark'. Leaving aside the inherent absurdity of Kevin demanding anybody to be more balanced, this falls well short of the usual hell and damnation/you will be sued unless you print an apology sort of thing we're used to. I think the Press know this too, hence the lack of any response to this 'instruction'. And I think Gordon knows that Kevin is on the way out, don't you?

If you're curious, Kevin...
... you might also like to try this one. 139 current appointments for Mr John Trevor Greer Donnelly! Go on, it'll only cost you £18 or so, that must be about 2 minutes worth of Gordon 'Sliding' Dawes...
I'm only trying to help
In the spirit of a 'modicum of cooperation' which Mr Kevin Delaney is so very desperate to bring to Sark, I would like to draw his attention to this list of 91 company directorships held, or formerly held, by his chum Mr John Donnelly. We know that Kevin is a fair man, and though John may be his friend - perhaps his only friend - we are sure that Kevin will see fit to mention these in his Newsletter, next time he decides to focus on the Sark Lark. Well, Kevin? I know you're out there...
